Google releases third developer version of Android 11
Google has released Developer Preview 3 of Android 11, which runs on the Pixel 2, 3, 3a, or 4 or the Android Emulator. The release seems to only contain new features for developers for now. It is the last release before the arrival of an open beta.
Google highlights some changes to Developer Preview 3 of Android 11 on its blog. For example, the api has been adjusted so that developers can see the reasons for an app to stop. Google also mentions Wireless Debugging, for wireless instead of wired debugging by developers. This is currently still done via a command line tool, but Google is promising a function for scanning QR codes in Android Studio.
Furthermore, Google points out that several APIs for data access auditing have been renamed. Google only mentions a few changes and possibly more novelties that have been implemented in the near future. The third developer preview comes as an over-the-air update to devices that already run an earlier version and in practice that is Pixel 2, 3, 3a or 4 smartphones. The preview can also be flashed from a desktop. The first of a total of three betas will follow from next month. The release of Android 11 should take place in the third quarter.
