Google releases software to control paper signal robots

Google has created an unofficial project called Paper Signals. It has released software that allows users to control a chip using Assistant. For example, simple signals can be built from paper.

Google has placed a number of its own prototypes on a site. For example, a paper umbrella that opens as soon as it rains or a disc that serves as a countdown to a certain time. The necessary code is now on GitHub and to get started, people still need a few parts, including an Espressif chip and a small servo. The printable paper templates can be downloaded from the site.

The project uses Actions on Google to control the virtual assistant via, for example, a smartphone. In addition, Dialogflow ensures that the user’s commands are correctly interpreted and Firebase runs on the back. In addition to the example functions, it is possible to develop your own signals. On Thursday, Google released a computer vision DIY kit.
