Google releases separate app for Slides
Google released its Slides app for iPhone and iPad on Monday. The application for displaying slideshow presentations was previously available for Android, after Google previously released other office apps.
The Slides app appeared on Apple’s App Store on Monday. This happened after a version for Android was already released last summer. Notably, that version received bug fixes on Monday.
In May, Google released separate apps for Docs and Sheets for Android and iOS. In Docs and Sheets, users can create both documents and sheets. Documents are also available offline and users can see who is working in a document at the same time. At the time, Google already said that Slides would follow later.
The functionalities of the apps are not new, because they were already in the Google Drive app, but Google has been working on pulling its office apps from its web storage service for some time. With the office apps, Google is directly competing with Microsoft’s Office Online.
