Google releases Gmail app with support for Outlook and Yahoo
Google has started rolling out the previously announced new version of its Gmail app for Android. This also includes support for Exchange and imap and it is possible to log in with an account from Yahoo and Outlook.com.
The new version of Gmail is developed for Android 5.0. For example, the application has the so-called Material Design: Google’s new design language for applications and the web. Android Police got their hands on the installation file for the app. It is a final version that users can install themselves. Incidentally, Android Police notes that the software is automatically sent to Android users. However, this can take a few days, because such a rollout usually takes place in phases.
Google had already announced that its new Gmail app would also have support for imap and Exchange. This makes the application more widely usable as a general e-mail application. It is also possible to log in directly with a Yahoo or Outlook.com account.
In addition to expanding the Gmail app, Google has also recently released Inbox, a ‘smart’ email application. This bundles emails that are similar and has the ability to ‘snooze’ emails. Incidentally, Inbox currently only supports Gmail and the app can only be used with an invitation.
