Google releases final version of Android N SDK
Google has released the final version of the SDK for Android N. All APIs are now ready and developers can put apps in the Play Store targeting this release. The final version of Android N for smartphones and tablets will be released later this summer.
By making all APIs final, developers can get started with new functionality in Android N, such as multi-window, with the certainty that it will work exactly the same on the final version of Android N that comes out later this summer, says the American company. Google has also been cleaning up. The api for the variant of Apple’s 3D Touch, Launcher Shortcuts, has disappeared. The search giant does not say whether the system, which allowed a shortcut on the home screen to display options if the user presses the screen harder than usual, will return.
Along with the final release of the SDK, Google has released the fourth preview of Android N for all supported devices, including the Nexus 6, 5x, 6p and 9, the Pixel C tablet and General Mobile 4g Android One. At this rate, with one release per month, Google will release Android N in August. That is slightly earlier in the year than previous Android versions, which were always released in October.
In addition to multiwindow, Android N also includes a new notification interface, a way to quickly reply to messages from notifications, a more aggressive form of battery saving technique Doze, a data saving feature and a new system of compiling that allows users to install apps faster.
