Google releases Chrome version 110. With the arrival of this browser update, support for Windows 7 and 8.1 is no longer supported, as is Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

Google writes that Chrome 110 will be released for Windows, Mac and Linux in the coming days or weeks. Chrome 109 is the last version to support Windows 7 and 8.1. From Chrome 110, at least Windows 10 is required. Chrome’s new update fixes 15 vulnerabilities, including three identified as high risk.

A spokesperson for Google confirms told ZDNet that Chrome 110 and future updates only support Windows 10 and later updates, including Windows 11. Older versions of Chrome will continue to work on systems with Windows 7, for example, but they will no longer receive the necessary security updates.

In 2020, Google indicated that support for Chrome on Windows 7 would last until 2022, giving companies more time to move to Windows 10. Initially, the company wanted to end support on July 15, 2021, but that was postponed.
