Google releases Android 10 for Android TV and shows dongle for developers
Google makes Android 10 available for Android TV. Manufacturers of set-top boxes and TVs with Android TV can start implementing the upgrade. Google releases the ADT-3 for developers, a small Android TV device.
According to Google, the Android TV software will be upgraded to Android API level 29. This brings the performance and security improvements that come in Android 10 to the operating system for TVs and set-top boxes. This should enable faster updates via Project Treble, among other things.
Google also shows the ADT-3, a small device that is only available to developers. The box has a quad-core SOC with Cortex-A53 cores, 2GB DDR3 memory and an HDMI 2.1 connection. Developers can test their Android TV apps with the ADT-3. Google will constantly provide the dongle with the latest updates.
According to Google, the dongle will be made available to developers through a hardware partner. Hardware based on the ADT-3 may be released for developers in the future. Earlier this year, information about the dongle came out, XDA Developers reported that the box is made by a subsidiary of Asus.
