Google releases alpha version of Jetpack Compose toolkit

Google has released an alpha version of Jetpack Compose, which should provide a faster and easier way to build the interface of Android apps. The final version should come next year.

Developers can already test the alpha version, but Google warns that not everything is stable yet. “Compose is not yet recommended for use in production, especially as we are working towards stability of APIs and are in the process of optimizing performance,” the search giant said in the announcement.

Jetpack Compose works with Kotlin APIs and is a toolkit to create an interface within Android Studio. In addition, developers can see a live preview of changes in image or on a device and the intention is that thanks to Jetpack Compose, less code has to be written to create an interface in an app. Google already announced this last year. The final version should be released in 2021, Google says.
