Google postpones deadline for switching from free G Suite to paid package
Google postpones the deadline for moving from the free legacy package of G Suite to a paid Workspace package. Originally the deadline was July 1, but it has now been moved to August 1. It is unknown why the date was moved.
The deadline shift has been noticed by Ars Technica Editor Ron Amadeo. Instead of May 1, administrators from a free G Suite legacy package will need to move to a Google Workspace package starting June 1. That can then be used free of charge until August 1, 2022; then you have to pay for it. Google will transfer administrators who do not choose a package themselves to the package that best suits their use.
Google announced in January that it was discontinuing the free legacy version of G Suite. New users have not been able to use this specific package of Google services since 2012, but users who were still on it did not yet pay.
