Google postpones Android Wear 2.0 update for Moto 360 and Huawei Watch

Google has postponed the update with Android Wear 2.0 for older watches such as the Huawei Watch and Moto 360 from 2015. The software has a bug. The update should have been available for the smartwatches from mid-February.

Google confirms the postponement to Wareable, but does not say what the bug is that is holding the release. The update is already available for three watches, namely the Fossil Q Founder, Casio Smart Outdoor Watch WSD-F10 and Tag Heuer Connected. That update came out this week.

The update will be released for various models of the Asus Zenwatch, the first version of the Huawei Watch and probably also the second Moto 360 and Moto 360 Sport from 2015. The Polar M600 from last year should also receive the update.

Google presented Android Wear 2.0, along with the LG Watch Style and Watch Sport, the first smartwatches that run on the new platform.

With the update, the watches will have access to watch faces to which third parties can add complications. That was not possible until now. Replying to messages via scribbles and a small keyboard will also be possible with the update. In addition, it is possible to install apps on the watch and to choose not to display apps that are on the phone with a Wear app on the wearable.

In addition, Google Assistant is available on watches. That is now only in English and German, but the search giant promises to release the digital assistant in more languages ​​in the coming months. Wear 2.0 is the first major update to the wearables platform since its release in the summer of 2014.
