Google Play lets companies distribute applications internally
Google has announced a new business feature for its download store Play. With the so-called Private Channels, companies can internally distribute Android apps to employees. Login details are required to obtain the apps.
A Private Channel is coming available for employees as a separate tab on the Play Store home screen. When the employee logs in to Google Play with the email address of the work, access can be gained to the apps that the employer wants to distribute. Google has a faq online set with more information about the new functionality.
Companies that want to use the new Private Channels must have a Google Apps account. Google Apps for businesses, as well as for educational institutions and governments can open a Private Channel for their own Android applications. Apps can be added to the new private app channel through the developer console.
