Google Pixel 6 Pro assembly videos confirmed the arrival of separate mmWave models
Two assembly videos of the upcoming Google Pixel 6 Pro smartphones have been leaked. These contained repair instructions and confirmed, among other things, the arrival of separate mmWave models and the battery capacity. The videos have since been taken offline.
The assembly videos were noticed by The Verge, among others. The videos contain instructions on how to assemble and disassemble the Pixel 6 Pro smartphones. With that, the videos seem to be intended for training purposes. It is unlikely that the videos were intended to be made public. The videos have since been taken offline following copyright claims from Google, although reuploads are currently circulating.
The videos contain separate instructions for two different Pixel 6 Pro models, which feature 5G connectivity with mmWave and only sub-6GHz support, respectively. With this, Google seems to be coming up with separate Pixel 6 models with mmWave-5G. The same has recently been shown by inspections at the American FCC. The assembly videos also include footage of an uwb connector and the Pixel 6 Pro battery, which appears to have a capacity of 5003mAh and 19.26Wh. The recently announced Pixel 5a 5G has a battery capacity of 4860mAh and 18.01Wh.
Well-known leaker EvLeaks shared earlier this week already several Pixel 6 renders and details. It showed, among other things, an unannounced wireless Pixel charger, and also some software details. For example, screenshots from EvLeaks show that the Pixel 6 has a fingerprint scanner under the screen and facial recognition. The Pixel 6 doesn’t seem to have infrared cameras, so presumably the facial recognition feature uses the selfie camera.
Google will officially announce the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro on October 19. The company previously shared some details about the smartphones, including the design and the self-designed Tensor-soc. The company has not yet shared official suggested retail prices, but the regular Pixel 6 recently appeared at the German retailer Saturn for 649 euros. Information from that store also showed that the device has 8GB of memory and a 4620mAh battery.
