Google Pixel 4 and 4XL receive the latest update
The Google Pixel 4 and 4XL smartphones have received one final update from the company, four months after guaranteed support ended. The penultimate update was in October, but the phones are now also receiving the February patches.
The updates can be found on the appropriate website Google pages. It is not unusual for the search giant to push another update after the guaranteed support period has ended, reports Android Police. That also happened with the Pixel 3, for example.
This means that the total support period for the smartphones is just under 3.5 years. Google also promised three more years of security updates for the Pixel 5 generation; starting with the Pixel 6, that promise is five years.
Google released the Pixel 4 phones in late 2019. The most distinctive was the Soli radar for facial recognition and gestures. The technology then disappeared from phones, but returned in a Nest thermostat and Nest Hub.
