Google opens first own studio for Stadia games in Montreal
Google will open its first studio in Montreal, Canada, where games will be developed exclusively for Google Stadia. It is not yet clear when the studio should be operational.
Stadia Games & Entertainment, as the new studio is called, will be located in Montreal, the city where game developers such as Ubisoft, Gameloft and EA also have offices. According to Jade Raymond, head of Stadia Games & Entertainment, Google wants to change game development, “just as Stadia wants to change the way players access and experience games.”
The new studio has meanwhile put the first vacancies online. Raymond promises to give developers all the tools they need to “create new and unique gaming experiences.” She told website GamesIndustry that the intention is that there will be several first-party studios from Google, but Raymond did not share any details about the timing. Google’s game streaming service Stadia will launch on November 19.
