Google officially releases YouTube Music app
Google comes with a separate music app YouTube Music. The app uses YouTube’s music catalog, including the music videos. Search can be done on different tracks, albums and artist and playback can be done with or without video.
Searches also show users remixes, covers, and live performances from the searched artists. Members of the ad-free YouTube Red, which requires a paid subscription, can also listen to music offline and switch between video or audio only. Red members also have the advantage that the music continues to play when the screen is turned off or when another application is in use, as with many other music applications. The difference is that the music never stops, according to it announcement message on the YouTube blog.
In addition to YouTube Music, Google Play Music will continue to exist. Unlike Play Music, the YouTube service does not offer the possibility to create a playlist, for example, writes The Verge. YouTube Music makes a mix for the user of tracks that someone has already listened to and new music that it thinks the user will appreciate. Users who don’t pay for YouTube Red are served ads in between.
YouTube Music can be downloaded for both Android and iOS devices from the respective stores, or on Android the Play Store and for iOS in the App Store. Subscriptions in the US cost $9.99 per month. For this, subscribers get access to more than thirty million tracks, comparable to other services such as Spotify and Deezer.
