Google Maps will show whether chargers for electric cars are in use or available for charging. The search giant has announced this. For the time being, this only happens in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Various chains of charging stations are participating, Google says. At the release, these are Chargemaster, EVgo and SemaConnect. Chargepoint will soon be added to this. While Google also mentioned Tesla in the earlier announcement of the feature, it is not included. Why that is is unknown.

Users can search for ‘ev charging stations’, after which the page with the result shows information about the type of chargers that are available and which ones are available. Until now, that information was available in other apps, but not in Google Maps. It is unknown if and when the function will be active in the Benelux.
