Google is adding group conversations to the website version of its chat app Duo. This allows multiple users to participate in a group conversation. Up to 12 people can participate in a conversation.

Users of the chat and video calling service will soon also be able to make calls in their browser, writes Google. Previously, this was only possible in the apps on Android and iOS. Users must have a Google account, and video calling only works on Chrome. The feature will be rolled out in beta in the coming weeks. Twelve participants can participate in a call. Google recently increased the maximum number of participants from eight to twelve.

Google is also introducing several new features for the video calling platform. One is a ‘family mode’. In addition, users can simultaneously make a drawing with different colors. The buttons to silence or end a conversation are temporarily hidden.

Several Snapchat-style masks and face effects are also becoming available. The latter can only be used on the Android and iOS apps. There will be more in the near future.
