Google lets users report search results in their own name
Google has created a widget that asks users if they want to be notified when their name appears on a web page. The company probably wants to make it easier to guarantee their online privacy.
The widget appears at the bottom of the search results if the user is logged in and searches by his or her own name. Clicking on the widget opens a Google Alert page with the name already filled in. Although the Alert functionality is not new, the widget seems to make it easier for users to monitor their own ‘online presence’.
Google already announced the functionality in a blog post last year. However, the Alerts had not yet been put online; In an email to Venturebeat, a company spokesperson said that this is now the case.
