Google lets iOS users of Maps navigate with a car instead of an arrow

Google has released an update to its Maps navigation app that allows users to trade in the default blue arrow showing the car’s location and direction for different types of cars. This is only possible on iOS.

The update made it possible to replace the navigation arrow with a red sedan, a green pickup truck or a yellow all-terrain vehicle. By simply pressing the blue navigation arrow during an entered route, you can choose one of the cars. As with the traditional arrow, the car symbol rotates with the direction and location of the car.

For now, the new Maps functionality is only available on iOS. It is not yet clear if and when the update will also be released for Android. Previously, there was temporarily an option in Google Maps to replace the arrow with a kart from the Mario Kart games.
