Google is working on voting function to confirm purchases via Assistant

Google is testing a feature for its digital voice assistant that will allow users to use their voice to confirm purchases made through Google Assistant. The feature is not officially out yet.

Google has confirmed to Android Police that it is a new feature that is part of an early, limited pilot. The feature allows users to confirm purchases made while shopping with Google Assistant by using their voice. This option may be present for users and can be enabled in the Google app in the payment settings.

According to Android Police, the function does not work for everyone, but the function called ‘Confirm with Voice Match’ is available in the app since version 11.8.7.21. Users who can turn on the toggle may not notice the change, even if they make a purchase through Google Assistant. That’s because it’s an early pilot where the voting option is only limited to in-app purchases through Google Play and restaurant orders. In any case, the latter only works in the United States.

A Google employee has announced that the pilot is only aimed at speakers and smart screens with Assistant. Not all purchases can simply be confirmed via the user’s voice. For example, restrictions have been set for the amount of prices and the number of transactions per day. When exactly the new voice confirmation feature will be released, for which devices and in which regions is still unknown.
