Google is working on support for captions in Google Messages

Google appears to be working on support for captions in Google Messages. The feature was discovered in a build of the app. Currently, image captions are still sent separately via Google Messages.

X user AssembleDebug dug into the experimental functions menu of the Google Messages app and was able to in their own words enable the caption flag. Once the feature is activated, the captions will be sent along with the image in a single message. The text will then appear directly below the image. It is not clear when Google will roll out the feature to all users.
