“Google is working on features to let users delete apps remotely”

Google appears to be working on a feature to let users remotely delete apps from devices connected to the account. Google has been able to remove apps remotely for years, but users have not been able to do so until now.

The feature is hidden in Play Store version 38.3, reports Android Authority based on viewing the code. It is unknown whether the feature will be limited to certain devices such as smartwatches or TVs, or whether removal will be possible from any device.

The feature allows users to uninstall apps on the Play Store site. Compatible devices are listed there. It has been possible to install apps this way for much longer. Google can remove malicious apps remotely, for example if malware is found in an app.
