Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones are experiencing audio recording issues. Examples show that the recordings sometimes sound tinny and shrill. Google says it is aware of the problems and will work on a solution.

Audio recordings posted online show that the issues are affecting both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. It’s not clear exactly how big the problems are, but there are several examples online of audio recordings where the sound doesn’t sound right; Android Police listed a number of them. In the examples you can clearly hear that the sound is occasionally shrill and tinny.

It is still unclear what exactly causes the problems. However, a spokesperson for the internet giant has already said that the problem is known and that a solution is being worked on. A software update should be released in the coming weeks to make the sound sound good again.

It’s not the only software issue that Pixel 2 smartphones have faced in recent times. For example, the OLED screen on the Pixel 2 XL received a lot of criticism for matte colors and problems with the display of colors and gray tones. Here too, Google already announced that it will come up with a solution, by adding more options for color reproduction.
