Google is testing information cards on Google.com again
Google has again conducted a test on Google.com in which it places information cards at the bottom of the search page. The last time the American search giant conducted such a test was in February of this year.
Compared to then, it seems that Google has chosen to show larger information cards. A new card has also been added in which the user is introduced to ‘the new google.com’ and is asked to log in. Once that is done, the user can indicate various information cards that will be displayed on the then personalized Google.com page.
Among the options are cards that should be able to show the air quality at a location, that can show how the stock market is doing or what events are taking place nearby. Other cards then show current sports results, the most popular search terms of the moment or viewing suggestions. Google also provides a toggle at the bottom of the page to hide the information cards again. It also states that the information from the tickets was collected on the basis of ‘past activity’.
9to5Google got air of the new test by two users. One of those users wrote on Twitter that he had deleted his browser history, cache and cookies before seeing the changes on Google.com. It is unclear whether these actions automatically activate the new Google.com test environment.
