‘Google is building Add to Wallet function in standard Android QR scanner’

Google appears to be working on the possibility of adding digital boarding passes and other passes to Wallet via the standard scanner for QR codes in Android. This would make adding passes easier.

The addition can be found in the Play Services code, reports The Spandroid. Beta version 23.42 includes a function to display the Add to Wallet button if the QR code scanner recognizes that it is a code that can be added to Wallet. This includes loyalty cards and boarding passes. These can be done in Wallet, but adding them is done via Wallet itself.

The QR code scanner can find those codes in the camera image or in old photos and screenshots. The discovery of the code indicates that Google is working on the feature, although the search giant has not yet announced or released it. The feature requires Android 13 or later. Now adding cards to Wallet still requires starting a scanner from the app itself.
