Google has announced the H update of Wear OS, the operating system for wearables. The software will receive a modified Battery Saver mode due to the update, which should ensure longer battery life.

The Battery Saver mode can turn itself on if the battery life of the wearables falls below ten percent. Thanks to the mode, the smartwatch then only displays the time. The H update also offers the option to put a smartwatch into a deep sleep mode after half an hour of inactivity, also to relieve the battery.

Furthermore, Smart App Resume is now available for all apps. This allows users to continue with the app activity they were doing regardless of the app. Finally, smartwatches can be turned off in two steps after the update has been implemented. This can be done by holding down the on and off button and choosing ‘shut down’ or ‘restart’.

According to Google, users can expect “System Version: H” of Wear OS 2.2 on their smartwatch within the next few months, provided the wearable is eligible for the update according to the manufacturer’s policy.
