Google introduces split-screen mode for Chrome OS tablets
Chrome OS will have a split-screen mode for tablets, making it easier for them to run multiple apps at the same time. For the time being, however, this is an experimental function that must be turned on manually.
Google employee William Greene introduced the new split screen mode via a post on Google+. If you want to run multiple applications side by side, you must open the ‘overview’ mode, after which apps must be dragged to the side of the screen. Then the apps appear side by side on the screen.
For the time being, this is an experimental feature that is not yet available to everyone. Those who want to use it must be running a developer version of Chrome OS, with at least version number 62. In addition, the flag –enable-tablet-splitview must be turned on in the settings.
The new function should especially apply to the 2-in-1 devices that can function as a tablet as well as a laptop. It is not yet clear when Google will bring the new functionality to all users of Chrome OS.
