Google introduces ‘floating’ keyboard for Android
Google has released a new version of its keyboard for Android. New in this version is that users can move the keyboard so that it can be placed anywhere on the screen.
The novelty is in version 7.6 of Google Keyboard, Android Police discovered after a teardown of the apk installation file for Android. Initially, it seemed that Google did not yet make the new functionality available to everyone, but Android Police states that the rollout has now started on a large scale.
With the new version of the Google keyboard for Android, a button is built in that allows the user to move the location on the screen. The functionality of the keyboard does not change, and it also becomes transparent if there is no typing for some time, so that the underlying content becomes visible. Users can set the size of the keyboard to their liking.
Google Keyboard is the default keyboard for many Android smartphones. In recent times, the manufacturer has added many new features, including a swipe keyboard.
