Google Introduces Android Add-ons for Docs and Sheets

Google has provided Docs and Sheets on Android with support for third-party add-ons. The add-ons are available through a Google Play collection and through the new add-on menu in Docs and Sheets on Android.

Google partnered with eight app providers for the initial launch: DocuSign, ProsperWorks, AppSheet, Scanbot, PandaDoc, ZohoCRM, Teacher Aide and EasyBib. In addition, Google has developed its own Classroom add-on. For example, the DocuSign add-on offers the ability to sign documents and save them to Drive, without leaving the Docs app on Android.

Thanks to ocr, Scanbot can analyze scanned documents in Docs for text that can be edited and AppSheet can generate mobile apps based on data in Sheets. From now on, other app developers will have the opportunity to plug into Docs and Sheets with functionality.

Google introduced add-ons for Docs and Sheets in conjunction with its Drive service in 2014, but the functionality is now coming to Android. The add-ons can be downloaded from the Play Store.
