Google has brought 64bit browser support to OS X with Chrome 39. In addition, the browser update brings many stability and performance improvements to the Windows, Linux, and OS X versions.

Google previously announced that the 64-bit version of Chrome for OS X starts faster and uses the available RAM more efficiently. Furthermore, the browser is said to be more secure because aslr technology is used. At the end of August, the beta of the 64-bit version for Apple’s operating system was already released. Windows has been able to have a stable 64-bit version of the popular browser since the end of August.

The 64bit browser is coming to OS X relatively late: most applications for the Mac OS already include support for the 64bit architecture. Chrome 39 also includes stability and performance improvements and 42 fixes for better security, Google announced. The release notes mention several new apps and extension APIs.
