Google integrates Assistant with Maps
Google announces in the context of the CES fair that it will release an update on Tuesday that will make Assistant available in the Google Maps app. This applies to both the Android and iOS version.
The update allows users of the Google Maps mobile app to control their navigation, respond to text messages including automatic punctuation, and manage their music via the digital voice assistant. On Android devices, the Assistant integration can also be used to send messages through other apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. In addition, Assistant can calculate the arrival time and pass it on to contacts.
It was already possible to use Google Assistant for navigation instructions, but now, for example, different stops can also be added to the route. When Google Maps is open and used to navigate to a location, Assistant can be used for other things without the navigation screen in Maps disappearing.
