Google: gap between screen and side Pixel 5 does not affect water resistance

Google says the gap some users see between the screen and the side of the case of its Pixel 5 smartphone is a normal part of the design. In addition, the opening does not affect the waterproofness of the housing, the manufacturer claims.

The response comes after various users, including in topics on Google’s own Pixel forum, had complained about the small notches that are mainly located at the top left between the edge of the screen and the side.

The Pixel 5 was released a few weeks ago in Germany and France, among others. The phone is for sale in a limited number of countries and Google phones are still not officially available in the Benelux. Google announced the Pixel 5 in late September.
