Google extends 5.1 surround sound support for Stadia
Google has extended 5.1 surround sound support for Stadia to web browsers with a new update. Also, these users now see an on-screen keyboard if they have connected a controller.
Stadia already had support for 5.1 surround sound via, for example, the Chromecast Ultra, but with the new update, users who play via the browser will also hear 5.1 sound. With 5.1 sound, players can better hear where an enemy is coming from, for example, if their audio equipment supports it. 5.1 surround sound requires a Stadia Pro subscription, as does 4k support. Previously, Google also brought this 4k support to Chrome.
Another addition for browser players is an on-screen keyboard. Finally, players on mobile devices will now receive notifications about their connection quality. This makes it easier for players to figure out where the problem is if their Stadia experience isn’t running smoothly.
Google Stadia came out last November as a Pro version and costs ten euros per month. Stadia works through browsers such as Chrome, select smartphones, and Chromecast Ultra. Recently, a free version of Stadia is also available.
