Google enables management of Windows 10 systems via G Suite

Google has started releasing functionality to enable management of Windows 10 devices through G Suite. System administrators can therefore also give users the option to log in with their Google data.

Managing Windows systems via G Suite works via Google Credential Provider for Windows, which must be installed on the relevant systems. The functionality was already being tested in a beta, but is now being made widely available.

System administrators can now manage Windows systems from the Google Admin console, just as they could with devices running Android, iOS or ChromeOS. Among other things, it is possible to activate single sign on, so that users can access all G Suite services on the device with a single login. Google promises protection against hijacking and suspicious login attempts.

Users of G Suite Enterprise, G Suite Enterprise for Education or Cloud Identity Premium can manage Windows systems in depth with the new functionality. For example, it is possible to perform software updates, change configurations, set policies and remotely wipe devices. Google says it started adding the new functionality on Monday. It can take up to three days for all features to be available to system administrators.
