Google enables integration of add-ons in Gmail message box
Google gives developers the ability to integrate Compose Actions into Gmail add-ons. Allows them to add add-on features to email compose windows.
The addition allows Gmail users to add attachments, access information, and use formatting features from third parties while writing an email.
As an example, Google cites the Box add-on’s Compose Actions, which allow users to attach files stored with the service directly to messages and save received attachments to the service. With the Dropbox add-on, a logo appears in the email file and folder sharing window, and with the Atlassian Cloud add-on, contextual information from Jira and Bitbucket appears. According to Google, more Compose Actions from other add-on providers will follow.
Once users activate Actions for add-ons, they appear on both the mobile and web versions of Gmail, and G Suite administrators can whitelist allowed add-ons. Last summer, there were privacy concerns about add-ons in Gmail, as some would make it possible for developers to read the content of messages.
