Google Drive feature predicts searches based on user patterns

Google has given Drive an update on several points. One of the new features is Quick Access, which allows Google to preview results in the search window before users start searching based on workday patterns and recent Drive activity.

With Quick Access, users should be able to access the file they wanted to find faster, Google says. It’s a machine learning system that can recognize patterns in Drive activity over time to see when users open which files.

Quick Access is not yet part of the consumer version of Google Drive, but is in the business version. Google has renamed it from Google Apps for Work to G Suite. In addition to the announcement on the blog, the search giant has emailed partner companies about the changes.

Finally, the American company has also added an option for Team Drives. Until now, Google Drive was always linked to a single Google account, but now multiple people with G Suite can share a Drive account and therefore automatically share the files in it. In addition, Spreadsheet with Explore gets a feature to ask help questions in English in natural language and Smart Scheduling in Calendar, previously only available on Android, will be released for iOS and the web version before the end of the year. Except for the addition to Calendar, the changes are all effective immediately.
