Google comes with Entertainment Space with games and videos for Android tablets
Google has announced a new Entertainment Spaces feature for Android tablets. This will be an overview with games, videos and e-books. The feature will be available later this year for tablets from Lenovo, Sharp and other companies.
The Entertainment Space feed is divided into three media consumption categories: ‘watching’, ‘games’, and ‘reading’. The overview is located on the left side of the Android home screen, where the Discover feed is normally shown. The Entertainment Space is a personalized home for all of users’ favorite movies, shows, videos, games and books, according to Google.
For example, the overview can show videos from services such as YouTube, Twitch or other services, in addition to recommended games and other content from the Google Play Store. The feed can also show content from subscription services like Netflix, provided users are signed in to those services on their Android tablets. Through the settings, users can choose to block content or apps from certain services.
Google’s Entertainment Space overview will be available this month for tablets from American retailer Walmart, Google reports. Later, the function will be rolled out for Android tablets from other manufacturers, but Google does not mention a more concrete release period. Lenovo or Sharp tablet users can expect another update this year that adds the feature. It is not yet known for which tablets from other manufacturers the function will be available.
