With some delay, Google has provided the Nexus 6 with an update to version 7.1.1. from android. The company already released the update for other Nexus devices and the Pixel phones in early December, but due to a bug it took longer with the Motorola device.

At the end of December, Google announced to the Android Authority that a ‘minor bug’ had been detected at the last minute, causing the update to wait. Google then said it would be released in early January and has now kept that promise. The company has now made the factory image and the ota available on its site.

The 7.1.1 update was released in early December for various Nexus devices and the Pixel phones. The Nexus devices had not had an update to the 7.1 version after the update to Android 7.0, which, among other things, introduced App Shortcuts and a gif keyboard. The Nexus 6 received the update to Android 7.0 in October, which was also later than the other Nexus phones.
