Google Chrome will make offline available content more visible

Google has updated its Chrome browser, making it clear to users, among other things, which content a web application can make available offline. The novelty is in Chrome 80, which is currently in beta.

For the new functionality, Google has developed the Content Indexing API. Developers can give metadata to content available offline, with the browser showing it to the user in a list. It is also possible to remove content there.

Making offline content more insightful is actually intended for Chrome version 82. However, experiments have already started from the beta version of Chrome 80. Incidentally, this version of the Chrome browser also discontinues support for a number of functions, including further reducing support for FTP.

Google has released Chrome 80 as beta for Android, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS and Windows. A final version is expected sometime in the near future.
