Google Chrome gets tab grouping feature

Google’s Chrome browser is getting a way to group tabs in the desktop version. Users can create their own groups with their own names and colors and then organize them on the tabbed bar.

The feature is in the stable version of Chrome 83 that will be released next week, Google says. It is already available in the beta version of the browser. Grouping tabs is done with a right click on the mouse or trackpad, after which the group can be created via an option. Tabs are then given a color at the bottom that the user can choose.

It is then possible to drag the tabs per group over the bar with tabs. The feature is not coming to the mobile version of the browser; Grouping tabs is only possible in Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS.

In addition, Google is experimenting with an API for websites to recommend new videos. Those recommendations come on a site and then in the browser, reports XDA-Developers. A site determines what will be included in it and that is in addition to the current controls for videos. The feature only works for video and not for images and audio, the site said.
