Google changes interface for business Gmail users
Google will change the interface for business Gmail users starting next week. On the side, the options for Chat and Meet, among other things, are more prominently displayed. The interface can be tried out first, but later it is mandatory for every user.
The shortcuts to Chat, Spaces and Meet are now in the lower left corner of the screen with arrows, but they will be in a separate sidebar on the left. Users should therefore be able to chat and video conferencing without leaving their inbox window. Notification bubbles allow users to stay informed about notifications in the inbox and chat window.
The intention is that working with Google Workspace will be more streamlined with the new interface, the company says. The new interface can be tried out next week, while it will be on by default in April. Then users can go back to the old interface for a few more months. This will no longer be possible from the end of June. Admins cannot disable the new interface. The interface is not coming to private Gmail users.
