Google CEO: AI features coming to Search
Google will also incorporate conversational AI into its search engine, as Bing now offers with Bing Chat. Google already has conversational AI with chatbot Bard, but that is still separate from Search.
When CEO Pichai plans to make that happen, he does not report yet. In addition, he also does not say when Google Bard will be accessible without a waiting list. It is the first time that Google speaks of combining Search and AI, which Microsoft has been doing for some time now and has generated a lot of interest.
AI has been gaining momentum since ChatGPT went public with its then 3.5 model back in December. The technology of the OpenAI company impressed the public and shortly afterwards Microsoft invested “billions of dollars” in OpenAI. That was Microsoft’s third investment in OpenAI to that point. In a short time, Microsoft has incorporated the ChatGPT technology into Bing, but also into Microsoft 365 and GitHub.
According to Bloomberg, Google’s senior management issued “code red” following the unveiling of Microsoft’s new AI products. The motto would be to add generative AI in all Google products with more than a billion users. According to Stat Counter Google holds more than 90 percent of the search engine market, so Search is a sure candidate for augmentation with AI under this policy.
