Google brings Google Now to Chrome browser
Google wants to bring its Google Now virtual assistant to the browser. The latest version of Chromium, the open source version of the Chrome browser, includes a framework for displaying Google Now cards and work is underway to connect to the Now servers.
Google Now shows Android users various cards such as news, weather, movies and concerts, along with personalized information about those topics. In the latest version of the open source project Chromium, on which Chrome is based, there is now a framework built-in to be able to show those maps in the browser as well.
The browser will probably start displaying the maps as Desktop Notifications, in a window outside the browser itself. The developer who provided the update seems to be working on it already to connect of the browser with the Google Now servers, writes The Verge based on a Google+ messageand is also being worked on lay of the link with the user’s location, quite crucial information for the Now service.
Earlier this week, Google expanded the Now service, adding support for scanning QR codes, purchasing and storing tickets, and checking Gmail for flight information, among other things.
