Google brings background noise filtering to Meet on Android and iOS
G Suite Enterprise users of Google Meet on Android and iOS can now set the service to filter background noise. Previously, Google already brought this functionality to the web version of Google Meet.
When Google Meet users on mobile enable the feature, the service removes background noises such as clicking keyboards, opening doors, and other noises that can be distracting. The user’s voice is not affected.
Filtering is disabled by default. The feature is only available to G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education users. G Suite Basic, G Suite Business, G Suite for Education, and G Suite for Nonprofits users don’t get a filter option. It is not known whether Google will later bring the function to these customers.
At the end of June, the web version of Google Meet got the option to filter background noise. Competing services, such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, also offer the ability to filter background noise.
