Google Assistant gets incognito mode to protect privacy
Digital assistant Google Assistant will get an incognito mode in the coming weeks, where the assistant does not use personal information such as calendars. The data about commands in the mode is not saved.
The new mode, which Google calls Guest Mode, is for times when users do not want Assistant to save interactions, the search giant reports. This makes it comparable to incognito mode in browsers or other apps. By default, interactions with Assistant appear in users’ accounts.
The feature works by voice command and should be available in the coming weeks. Google says it is also working on a way to give notifications within Google apps if the software suspects that there are attempts to hack an account. By displaying the notifications in this way, more people must see them faster than via email. The new way of reporting is initially in iOS. On Android, Google can already give a system notification if a hack is suspected.
