Google announces Pixel 7 and 7 Pro for 649 and 899 euros
Google has announced details about the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. The Pixel 7 will be released this month for 649 euros, the Pixel 7 Pro should cost 899 euros. Those are the same prices as Google charged for the predecessors.
Google had already briefly shown the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro at its developer I/O event in May, then said the phones would be released this fall and would include a Google Tensor G2 soc. The search giant then kept further details to itself, but the company has now revealed them during its own hardware event.
The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro differ on several fronts. Firstly, the Pro version is larger, partly because of the larger screen. That OLED screen can also go up to 120Hz with the Pro, while the Pixel 7 goes up to 90Hz. The Pixel 7 also has a RAM with a capacity of 8GB, where the Pro has 12GB.
Another difference is in the camera setup. The main camera on both phones is a 50MP camera with f/1.85 lens and a 72-square-millimeter sensor. That’s the same hardware as last year. The same goes for the ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12MP camera with f/2.2 lens and a sensor of about 18 square millimeters. It now has autofocus with a macro mode. The Pro version also has a 48-megapixel camera with a telephoto lens, which offers 4.8 times magnification compared to the primary camera. It is a sensor of about 24 square millimeters with an f/3.5 lens. The front camera has a resolution of 10.8 megapixels and an angle of view of 97 degrees on the Pixel 7 and 93 degrees on the Pixel 6; that’s relatively wide for a front camera.
There’s a new generation of Super Res Zoom that can combine images from multiple cameras and, according to Google, adjusts the pixel layout of the photos for editing to create a 12-megapixel photo that looks as close as possible to that of a 2x or 2x camera. 10x zoom. The software goes up to 30x zoom.
In terms of software, Google provides a VPN service with its Pixel 7 phones. In addition to the fingerprint scanner behind the screen, users can also use the front camera to unlock the phone with facial recognition. In addition, the Clear Calling function will be added later to suppress even more background noise when calling. Also, only on Pixel 7 phones, users can sharpen old photos.
The battery of the Pixel 7 is 4355mAh, the Pro has a 5000mAh battery. They are wired and can be charged wirelessly. The software also adds an option for facial recognition via the front camera in addition to the fingerprint scanner in the screen.
