Google announces Go edition Android 10
Google has announced the Go edition of Android 10. This includes encryption via AES alternative Adiantum. Google created that to enable encryption on phones with less powerful processors.
Android uses AES by default, but it won’t run on phones with ARMv7 socs. Nearly all midrange and high-end phones have switched to ARMv8 socs, but some cheaper models still have older 32-bit processors, for example based on Cortex A7 microarchitecture. They should run better with Adiantum as the encryption method.
Also, Android Go now has a method to read text from a web page for people who like to receive texts via audio. In addition, apps should start 10 percent faster than under the Go edition of Android 9 Pie.
Phones with Android 10 Go Edition will appear this fall, Google says. In the past 1600 different models have appeared from more than 500 manufacturers, including well-known names such as Samsung, Xiaomi and HMD Global.
