Google announces event for suspected presentation of Pixel phones
Google has announced its own event for October 4. The search giant is likely to show its new smartphones for the first time at the “Made By Google” event, given its associated site and previous rumors.
Google has a teaser tweeted, leading to a site where the search giant shows images in the shadow of a rectangle. That rectangle appears to be in the shape of a smartphone. In addition, the source code contains references to “meet the newest member of the Google family” and “keep me informed about Google devices and what you can do with them.”
In addition, Google has sent invitations to American media, Venturebeat reports. It states that the event will begin at 9 a.m. local time on October 4. This would make it six o’clock in the evening in the Benelux on the same day. Google will livestream the event on YouTube. The invitation is no surprise, because the date of October 4 has been around in the rumor circuit for some time.
There have been rumors for weeks about the Pixel phones, a new line of smartphones from Google. HTC would make the Pixel phones. The Pixels differ from previous Nexus smartphones in that they are not made for developers, but for consumers. In addition, they get more services from Google itself, instead of the most bare-bones version of Android. HTC is said to be the producer of the first two Pixel devices, which are rumored to have 5″ and 5.5″ displays. In addition to the new phones, Google is also working on its own smartwatches, according to previous rumors.
