Google and Meta will use generative AI for advertising
Google and Meta are said to start integrating generative AI into their advertising tools this year. Users could therefore see advertisements that are created and optimized for them.
Google wants to use generative AI in its tool Performance Max, reports Financial Times. Meta is all about Advantage+. Financial Times obtained access to an internal presentation from Google that mentioned details of the integration. Afterwards, the company confirmed the arrival of generative AI in its advertising tool.
Marketers provide materials, after which the generative AI can ‘remix’ them for use in advertisements. One concern is that generative AI may ‘hallucinate’ and invent elements that are not in the source material. According to Google, there are therefore rules for generative AI that should prevent this. How exactly that works is unknown.
Google has not yet announced any further details. It is the first time that the search giant talks about generative AI in advertising. It previously announced that it would integrate the technology into other services such as Gmail and Docs.
