Google Adds Version Naming to Docs

Google has added some new features to its Docs software. For example, the options for version management have been expanded with naming versions and it is possible to search from one document for information in other documents.

Google has posted an overview of the new features in its blog. In addition to naming different versions of a document, worksheet, or presentation, the functionality of document commenting has also been expanded somewhat. A user can now preview the document without any comments or suggestions for changes. Also, all these comments can now be approved or rejected with a single action. Incidentally, such comments can now also be added from Android or iOS.

Another functionality that Google has incorporated in the update is the addition of add-ons in templates. Such add-ons previously had to be installed separately for all users, but can now be shared with each other using templates. These templates can be created by the users themselves.

The new Explore functionality shows a bar on the side of a document, with which you can search on Google, Google Images and within Google Drive. When a result is clicked, the link opens in a new tab. The update came online on Wednesday.
